ICAR Population Guides: Introduction

ICAR Population Guides will focus on key asylum and refugee populations in the UK. They provide a summary of the population's history of settlement in the UK, the issues that face this population, demographic data, country of origin information, and existing resources and projects.

ICAR Population Guides are aimed at users that do not have specialist knowledge of the population concerned. As such, they are intended to provide an introduction to particular populations and aim to provide an overview of the evidence base relating to the population, whilst also providing suitable signposts for those wishing to explore the topic further.

Using plain language and an easily-navigable structure but drawing on academic principles of literature reviewing, the guides aim to make research findings and statistical data accessible to a wider audience.

ICAR is currently developing this area, and further Guides will be added shortly on Iran, China and Pakistan.

Comments and any further resources, references or articles on the populations covered should be sent to
