UNHCR Statement on the right to an effective remedy in relation to accelerated asylum procedures


The Council of Europe has published a revised edition of Asylum and the European Convention on Human Rights (Human Rights Files No. 9) by Nuala Mole and Catherine Meredith.


The European Parliament has approved the establishment of a European Asylum Support Office and a joint EU resettlement programme


The Coalition: our programme for government lists the new UK government’s proposals affecting asylum in its immigration and equalities sections. These cover

  • stronger immigration controls including a new Border Police Force; an end to child detention, and faster asylum application processing (immigration);
  • ending the removal of asylum seekers at risk on grounds of their sexual orientation or gender (equalities).
